Does Concrete Adhesive Have Waterproofing Properties?

Since adding Sahand Chemical concrete adhesive to the concrete mortar mixture has a significant effect on reducing water penetration, many believe that adding concrete adhesive alone is sufficient for waterproofing. But in fact, concrete adhesive cannot be introduced as a product for 100% concrete waterproofing.

This polymer resin with its formulation has a significant effect on increasing the resistance of concrete to water penetration and diffusion, but for complete waterproofing, we suggest using Sahand Chemical two-component waterproofing, which is applied as a thin double layer on the surface and is impermeable to water.

Applications of Sahand Chemical Concrete Adhesive

It is possible to use concrete adhesive in the mortar mixing stage:

• Forming durable concrete with a sticky and cohesive texture and a long service life in structures.
• Easy connection to the old layer without cracking or blistering.

Calculating the Required Amount of Concrete Adhesive

The consumption volume of concrete adhesive depends heavily on its application and expected performance. Usually, the consumption rate of this product is 5 to 20% of the cement weight in the mortar. The higher the consumption rate of concrete adhesive in the mentioned range, the more effective it will be in reducing moisture and water penetration and the more moisture-resistant concrete will be obtained.

How to Prepare Concrete Adhesive

Add the required amount of Sahand Chemical concrete adhesive to the mixer containing the mortar mixture and continue mixing until a uniform and homogeneous mortar is obtained.

It is important to note that concrete adhesive replaces part of the water consumed in the mortar mix design; therefore, in calculations, the volume of water should be reduced and the calculated amount of concrete adhesive should replace it.

Substrate Surface Conditions

First, the surface must be free of any contamination, dust, paint and grease. Since concrete adhesive is water-soluble, it is necessary to avoid water accumulation on the surface before applying the resulting mortar. But this product will not dissolve in water at all after drying.

Mixing concrete adhesive with water and diluting it before adding it to the mortar will disrupt the formulation and reduce the quality and performance of the concrete adhesive. But after the concrete dries, its contact with water will not cause the concrete adhesive to dissolve and lose quality.

Operating Temperature and Workability Time

The best operating temperature for Sahand Chemical concrete adhesive is between +10 and +30 degrees Celsius.

Drying Time

Adding Sahand Chemical concrete adhesive to the mortar slightly reduces the mortar drying time.

Expiration Date and Storage Conditions

Sahand Chemical concrete adhesive can be used for up to one year after production if stored in its packaging and away from direct sunlight and freezing cycle.
