Does Mortar Reinforcement Resin (Latex) Create a Waterproofing Property in Mortar?

Sahand Chemical mortar reinforcement resin can be mixed with all cement-based compounds and, depending on various conditions, will reduce their permeability to a considerable extent.

For example, by combining this resin and Sahand Chemical grout powders, the joints between tiles and ceramics can be made largely waterproof.

However, as a standard, the use of this product as a 100% waterproofing agent is not principled, and Sahand Chemical’s only product for this purpose is two-component waterproofing, which can be used as an independent product.

Applications of Sahand Chemical Mortar Reinforcement Resin (Latex)

This resin is added to cement-based compounds in different ratios instead of part of the water and adds many properties to it, including:

• Increasing the strength and adhesion resistance of various cement-based powder tile adhesives.
• Increasing flexibility and reducing the possibility of mortar cracking.
• Waterproofing grouts in combination with grout powder.
• In repair mortars, it increases their adhesion resistance and flexibility.

Calculating the Required Amount

The consumption volume of mortar reinforcement resin (latex) depends heavily on its application and expected performance. Usually, the consumption rate of this product is 15% of the cement weight of the mortar mix design (this amount is calculated for combination with grout powder 12 to 25% of the powder weight).

How to Prepare Mortar Reinforcement Resin (Latex)

The required amount of Sahand Chemical mortar reinforcement resin (latex) is poured into a container with a suitable capacity, and then the powder part is slowly added to it while mixing with an electric mixer. Mixing continues until a uniform and homogeneous mortar is obtained.

Operating Temperature and Workability Time

The best operating temperature for Sahand Chemical mortar reinforcement resin (latex) is between 5 and 40 degrees Celsius.

Drying Time

Adding Sahand Chemical mortar reinforcement resin (latex) to the desired compound slightly reduces its drying time.
